What excellent stories! Very well written book with beautiful illustrations and stories that just draw you in. Oh yeah, and my little one likes it too!

I read this out loud to my 6 year old daughter and she really loved it. We used this in place of first grade science for a semester. It's so wonderful to do a "nature study" that puts names and personalities to the animals you're reading about. Animals are more than just the sum of their parts. They have personalities and purpose. The book really brings this out--and the writing style is superb as well. This was my first experience with Herriot's writing, and I'm impressed. I just ordered "All Creatures Great and Small" so I can read some more.

I like this book very much. It has a xmas story in it which I dont celebrate but other than that the stories are touching and uplifting. A wonderful teaching tool for children.

The stories are just right. My 3 year old loved them... that is pretty good considering most books she likes are like the Big Red Barn.:) Wonderful!

I bought this book to read to my grandkids when we have them over night once and a while. But they aren't the only ones that enjoy this book. I also love this book. For my grandkids, its the only book they want to have read to them. The book has really great pictures in it and the stories keep the kids interested. If the kids love to listen to stories about animals then this IS the book to get. I feel it's a great FAMILY book, really for ALL ages including adults for I really enjoy this book as well as the grandkids. So therefore I highly recommend this book.
