Product Description So many behavioral problems in dogs result from fear, but fear-based problems can become worse if treated incorrectly. This booklet provides a step-by-step dog training program of desensitizing and counter classical conditioning. It can help you solve minor dog problems and prevent serious ones, whether your dog's fears include the vacuum cleaner, people with hats, or the stranger at the door. Covered are the oh-so-important details related to identifying exactly what triggers your dog, creating a step-by-step treatment plan, monitoring your progress, and why you need to treat the fear and not just your dog's reaction to the fear. This book is on the "Top- Ten" of Dogwise's Dog Training Book Catalog, and has helped thousands of dogs and their owners around the country.

How my dog educated me.... August 31, 2010 sweetater45 This is the ultimate book for understanding and training your dog. Easy to read, as Ms. Mcconnelly writes as if she's speaking with you in a comfortable conversation. Easily understood and quick to give concrete directions on training lovingly.....
Cautious Canine Review by Denise July 16, 2010 Denise W. Pursifull (Pittsburgh, PA USA) Very reasonably priced and very helpful info. Written in an easy to read format. I will recommend this book to others.
Cover the bases July 13, 2010 GSDRobin Reading this book was a refresher course in counter-conditioning. It is clear and gives a good amount of guidance toward changing the behavior. Her comments are encouraging as they remind the reader that this is not done overnight and may take a lot of time and patience. Very good for the owner of the nervous or reactive dog.
Useless book for anyone who knows anything about dogs May 13, 2010 M. Garland 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Cautious Canine has no information that is helpful to anyone experienced with dogs. It took about 5 minutes to read. I had looked forward to this book since I have recently adopted a dog who will not come utililizing any of these common and well known methods. I was hoping for something of substance that could help me with a real problem. If you want something that is more advanced for dogs with severe problems with fear, save your money. This little brochure is useless.
short but informative April 14, 2010 N. Sprader (Milwaukee, WI) Initially I was disappointed in the small size of this book (pamphlet). Although it is very informative and insightful. Worth the read.
