I dont know what the people who have given this item one star are talking about unless they simply got one of these that had a factory defect. I purchased mine here on amazon 4 years ago...May 2006. I have 3 dogs to clean up after and have used this item several times per week over the last 4 years and have never had a problem with it. I even leave mine outside in the weather all year long.

Much stronger than the scoop I purchased in the big box retailer for almost the same money. It does the job well and has a good sturdy feel without being too heavy.

Concept of product is great, only problem with the item occurs when you're using the lever to grab the waste, it is super stiff and after a few uses your hands are sore from the tension.
