Did not work for me July 30, 2010 GN I bought this thinking it would get the dog's attention but that lasted about 5 minutes (and even then it was a small reaction). I could put the unit within 3 feet of our dog and it would not even cause her to turn her head much less create some diversion to attract her attention. It does seem to work with my daughter's dog (a pug) but not our dog (a Shiba Inu). I do know for a fact that she has great hearing since she always seems to know when a car pulls up into our driveway. So I guess, it may depend on the type of dog that you have as to whether this device will work. By the way, I gave it to my daughter and it seems to work for her.
OMG! This is unbelievable! July 28, 2010 sandywitch (Kentucky, USA) I bought this Dog Repeller for the training aid part. When I got it home from the post office and put a battery in it, I still lacked faith because of the last two purchases I'd made of similar products that didn't work at all. I was in my bedroom and my cat was at her food bowl. I thought, what the heck, it won't work anyway and aimed it at her and just touched the button for a nanosecond. HOLY COW! My poor cat's hair all stood up, and she zipped under the bed!!! I didn't hear a thing! The reason I bought this device was mostly for my Yorkillion pup. He's loud and shrill and will start barking a steady stream without taking time to inhale air and just keeps it up non-stop until he gets what he wants. If he wants out of his crate, he doesn't care if it's 4:00 in the morning. If we're eating, he wants OUR food, not his dog food that's sitting right in front of him. We haven't had a peaceful meal in about nine months.
Well, I know it's not supposed to work through walls, and you're supposed to point the device directly at the dog. My short burst was through a wall and about ten feet away pointed in another direction and, for some odd reason, Pookey barely made a peep throughout dinner!!! I am SO IMPRESSED!!! My daughter and I tried to figure out what else it could have been besides the repeller, but there's just no other explanation! My sanity may be saved! I'll see how it works on training to come, sit, stay, lie down, roll over, etc.
Better than Expected July 26, 2010 Carla E. Walter I bought this primarily as a training aid. Our small breed dog has a bad habit of barking. He barks at the mailman, the neighbor kids, people biking past our house, the doorbell, he barks at everything. Well, with a newborn in the house, I was getting desperate during naptimes. I bought this last week, and it's been great. Just a short press of the button and our dog is quiet and back in the house. Will definitly recommend to friends.
Piece of Junk July 20, 2010 K. Rector (Colorado) This item worked great for about 2 weeks. Then it DIED !! My Mom bought one because she was so impressed with mine. Hers quit working after a week. Save your money and find something that is going to last!! It would be a great item if it was made to last longer than a few weeks.
Solved my problem! July 16, 2010 Gary Jennings (Hesperia, CA United States) I'm not sure why some people have had no luck with this device except that maybe it doesn't work on all dogs. My neighbor has a chihuahua and a pit bull. I could not go out on that side of my yard without both of them barking like crazy at me. The chihuahua is just a little yapper but the pit bull sounded like he wanted to kill me. I park my truck on that side every day so this was getting really annoying. The first day I had this device, as soon as the two dogs ran to the fence to start barking at me, I pointed it at them and pressed the button. The pit bull turned tail and ran. The chihuahua flinched a little but I'm not sure if it was just me pointing it at him or he actually heard it but now, when I go out there, the pit bull starts to come toward the fence and immediately turns around and goes away. The chihuahua is barking a lot less although I always thought he was encouraged by the pit bull anyway. I can live with the little yapper because the pit bull leaves me alone now. I'm wondering how long the effect will last. I'm going to continue carrying this thing until I'm convinced I don't need it anymore. I will update this review if there are any further developments.
