5 out of 5 stars Very good set of clippers   August 11, 2010
Ellen Mangan (Boston, Ma USA)
I decided to splurge and get a good set of dog clippers, and I'm so glad I did. I have a St. Bernard (long coat), and I've destroyed a couple of $25 clippers I got at Target on her coat. I figured getting these clippers and a broad clipper head (take down quick, or something like that) would be cheaper than paying a professional dog groomer to get rid of the poor thing's tangles and I was right!

The set up: my dog is an outside dog, and hadn't been properly bathed or brushed in months. Before you call the SPCA on me, it is not a usual occurrence, but I didn't do much bathing or brushing of her in my last few months of pregnancy, and once the baby was here forget it. My husband doesn't really bother to do any dog grooming, so her coat was awful by the time I got to it. Dreadlocks, mats, just yuck. It took two sessions with the clippers, because after about 15 minutes of bushwhacking through her tangles it got hot enough I had to shut it off (I didn't think that was unreasonable - we're talking impenetrable forest of fur here, and it managed to cut through it). After the second session she was happily shorn, much cooler, and I felt less guilty by far. Yay clippers! And having them handy means she'll never get that bad again. Definitely worth the $$.

5 out of 5 stars Well worth it.   August 9, 2010

The speed and ease of using these clippers made getting my Golden Retriever/Lab mix trimmed for summer exceptionally fast and easy.

5 out of 5 stars A must for all Dog owners that do their own grooming   August 8, 2010
Mary Miller (Big Lake, MN)
I use this on both my Border Collie and Mini Schnauzer. Don't mess around with the light weight ones purchased at your local discount stores. This item works just like the ones at the groomers. The animals are less stressed and so am I as the owner. I did purchase a set of different length combs for the longer hair areas.

3 out of 5 stars Sort of pleased   August 6, 2010

Delivery was quick. The clippers work well, but they advertise that they stay "cool" but they do not. After about 15 minutes of grooming, they get so hot you can't touch the dog with them. :(

4 out of 5 stars Plenty of power   August 4, 2010
Sandra Gier (Newcastle, CA, US)
I needed a clipper to clip my Great Pyrenees dog who's coat is so thick that she feels like a sheep when her coat less than a inch long. I have purchased several clippers that couldn't do the job. The Oster A5 Turbo 2-Speed worked great!!
It lost 1 star because the head is a bit wider than ordinary so the combs from other clippers won't fit & it didn't come with any.
