 Changed our lives! September 6, 2010

About a year ago we adopted two stray, male, orange kittens. Charlie and Oliver live the good life and are completely spoiled. After a few months, we started to notice that Oliver started "marking" our entire house, specifically the bedroom. We bought a second litter box which did not help. We bought a third litter box that helped temporarily, but then it all began again after a few days. After having them neutered and banning them from the bedroom, we were running out of ideas. I took Ollie to the vet and had him tested for everything imaginable, but everything came back normal. The vet explained that it was behavioral and there were a few modifications we could make to the environment, including changing their food and purchasing a Feliaway Plugin. I immediately rushed home and ordered one. When it arrived, I plugged it in in the bedroom and Oliver literally turned into a different cat. He never peed on any of our things (unless he was REALLY mad!), and has since become a purring, affectionate kitty! I cannot recommend this product any higher. It has made our lives so much happier and particularly less smelly!

We've used the Feliway product (these diffusers, as well as the spray version) to move cats into 3 different homes, two cross-country plane flights, and many other times they seem to be "keyed up." As more than one of our veterinarians have confirmed, the product works wonderfully well. No detectable scent to humans, low profile, but we do find it calms the cats very effectively. For moving, ideally set this up before you bring the cats in; but also works well being introduced "in progress" after a stressful event (like a vet appointment).

This product is supposed to work for different types of cat problems, including urinating outside the litter box as it's supposed to make them "happier" for lack of a better description, but it does not work for that. Even after getting this and plugging it in our cats are still peeing outside the litter box. Found a brand new spot, that was still wet that's how recent it was, behind their litter box, and yes the plug in still has the liquid in it so it's not empty. The room reeks of cat pee now and the product we tried did not work to get the smell out so now we have to try a different product. Would not buy this prodcut again nor recommend it if the problem was urinating outside the litter box as it won't stop it.

One of our cats had developed an inappropriate urination problem. All of the vets we spoke to highly recommended installing a couple Feliway diffusers to help put him more at ease. The only problem was that he must have thought it was another cat marking the areas where the diffusers were plugged in because he promptly sprayed them. As in "not just sprayed the area by the diffuser, but directly on the diffuser itself." :) After nearly 16 months of trying everything the vets could come up with, ultimately we had to put our cat on a low dose medication, which worked almost immediately. While we tried our hardest to avoid the medication route, sometimes the passive treatments just won't cut it.

We are a multi-cat household. When of our "nervous" furkids decided to become "inappropriate" in his elimination, we asked our vet for advice. He suggested this product. I was shocked at how expensive it was at a local petstore/pet warehouse stores and looked on Amazon and found a reasonable price. We ordered it, and have been firm believers ever since. The wizzing has stopped. Between the difusers and the spray we are able to keep a pleasant and peaceful home again. My only complaint would be that it is a kind of hard to gauge when the difuser is low. The difference it has made in his temperment is amazing. He went from a nervous kitty to a lap cat. Feliway has been a lifesaver in our home!
