5 out of 5 stars No more excessive barking from my 6-month old lab after just one correction!!!   September 6, 2010
A. Asis (Pasadena, CA United States)
Just to start with a little background. We have a female lab (10-years old) and a terrier/chihuahua mix (2 years old).

Memorial Day 2010, we adopted a 7-month old female lab from a shelter. Three months later, she started barking excessively from 11pm-2am. After 3-days of lack of sleep (sometimes I only get 3-4hours sleep due to her barking), I ordered the NoBark 10R when she would not stop barking (it was around 1:45am when I logged on to amazon.com). We knew her reason to bark is not justified, because our two other dogs werent even barking. We knew it's a legitimate threat when the 10-yr old lab starts to bark. However, the old lab wasnt barking whenever the little lab would bark. I think our little lab was starting to mimic the excessive barking of our neighbor's german shepherd (covered in another story).

First night:
I waited for the little lab to bark again. True enough, it was around 11pm when she started barking again. (NOTE: our old lab and terrier mix was sound asleep while the little lab was barking. Hence, no immediate REAL threat in the area).

I gave the little lab a few kibbles to eat while I put on the NoBark 10R. Based on other reviews here on amazon.com, I set it to Pregressive Correction (#2). I send her out and her first set of bark was kind of raspy at the end. I guess she felt the level 0, but not sure what it was. She attempted to bark again, and this time, she was startled and didnt know what it was. She kind of jumped and jerked while trying to run away (she wasnt even sure why or whom she was running away from, lol). It was heartbreaking for a few seconds, but she never attempted to bark again that night.

Our old lab and terrier mix came out of their houses to investigate what could have happened to the little lab. No one had a slight idea, nice.

The little lab was wearing the NoBark 10R until 6am, never heard a bark all-night. Second night, I decided not to put the NoBark 10R, I shall wait until she barks again (around 11pm). 11pm, 12midnight came, she wasnt even barking. She learned quickly when barking is ok, smart lab!

SECOND NIGHT:
She wasnt wearing the NoBark 10R, but still not barking excessively at night.

THIRD NIGHT:
Not wearing NoBark 10R, but still not barking excessively at night.

I have only used the NoBark 10R for one night, and our little lab learned quickly. She used to bark excessively even on day-time (tolerable since I'm not trying to go to sleep), but she has calmed down since.

This is worth the overnight shipping I had to pay!

Thanks!!!!

5 out of 5 stars My dogs are so quiet it's scary....   September 4, 2010
Joel A. Pogar (Parker, CO)
We have two GSP's and love them to death, but they bark at everything. Literally within 10 minutes of putting these collars on, they were as quiet as a church mice. It's taken some getting used to......we're so used to their constant barking that it's weird to have them home and not making noise.

I was skeptical about this product and it will be interesting to see if we have the same battery problems at 6 months (see other reviews) but for right now, I'm exceptionally happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Changed my perception of e-collars   September 1, 2010
J. Deardorff (Home of the Steeler Nation)
I bought this collar after having neighbors complain that my dog, a 110 lb. mastiff puppy, was barking all day while I was at work. Living in a renovated loft building, I could not take the proper training route - let him bark until he figures out it won't bring me back - and so when he was barking I had to go back and do what I could to get him to stop. This was fine in the evenings, but going to work became stressful and I reached a breaking point with my neighbors, so I buckled down and bought this collar after reading reviews and deciding that, no matter how inhumane I thought it was, that it was better than having to give up my dog because I couldn't keep him around anymore.

The collar arrived, charged in a few hours, and I put it to the test. I crated my beast, set the thing on progressive intensity, and walked out of the door. BARK! Pause. BARK! Pause BARK! YOWP! Silence. Sweet, golden silence...and it has stayed that way ever since. 1 little pinch was all it took and he learned his lesson. Now, when he sees me get the collar, he knows it's quiet time. Half of the time I don't even have to turn it on. The battery life has been excellent so far, as I am still at 2/3 of a charge after 2.5 months of continuous all-day use (8 hrs./day).

I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who is in the same boat as I was. The only room for improvement I can see is if the collar would be a snap collar rather than a buckle collar, but the buckle allows you to get it to the right level of snug-ness and is probably more durable in the long run.

5 out of 5 stars A Remedy   August 30, 2010
P. Koss (Connecticut)
I bought two of these colors for my two small barking dogs. They barked at everyone who passed the house, then they'd get into a fight with each other. It was horrible. We tried saying "no" in a loud voice, but sometimes it's not convenient to go running to where they were in the house. We tried coins in a can. Nothing worked. Now we are at peace. Sometimes they forget they have them on and bark, but only for one time. Then they stop. It's wonderful.

Great product! I went from having the dog from hell to a perfect angel. He does take advantage when the collar is off, and the unit itself is a bit bulky on small dogs, but other than that we have no complaints.
